WPVM Honors the YWCA

6 Nov

As part of its 5th Anniversary Fall Listener-Support Fund Drive, WPVM 103.5 FM honors the YWCA of Asheville this Thursday, November 6.

For every $5 donated to WPVM on Thursday, a donor will contribute $1 to the YWCA, up to $500! You can support this effort by calling the station at 828-258-0085 between the hours of 8 am and 10 pm. You are also eligible for thank-you gifts from the station, viewable at www.wpvm.org, and you can donate online at www.wpvm.org.

YWCA staff will participate in live interviews on WPVM at 9 am, 1 pm, and 5 pm Thursday to promote Community Connection Day and the collaboration between WPVM and the YWCA.

We’re very excited about this partnership! WPVM has been a great supporter of the YWCA and regularly helps us promote our mission and events.

WPVM is Asheville’s all-volunteer, listener supporter radio station, “People-Powered Radio.” WPVM is broadcast service of the Mountain Area Information Network. Via local news and music shows and the Community Calendar at main.nc.us, WPVM and MAIN serve as a critical on-air and online resource for local information and community building.

Nearly 80 volunteers bring the community 38 local shows and dozens of syndicated programs 24 hours a day, 103.5 FM and by streaming and podcasting from www.wpvm.org. Shows cover breaking news, community events, local politics, media reform, legal issues, spirituality, progressive hip hop, reggae, jazz, alternative rock, electronic music, and local music. The Fall Fund Drive is one of WPVM’s two primary fundraising events and is critical to WPVM’s sustainability.

Remember, Community Connection Day is Thursday ONLY. Call the station at 828-258-0085 between the hours of 8 am and 10 pm. You are also eligible for thank-you gifts from the station, viewable at www.wpvm.org, and can donate online at www.wpvm.org.

As always, thank you for empowering the YWCA of Asheville (and WPVM, too!)
