Mini DV Cameras Needed

9 Sep

From Rachel Herrick, YWCA FutureVision Coordinator:

The FutureVision high school program is partnering up with Story Point Media this fall for a one of a kind experience  (www.storypointmedia.com).

Students will be exposed to the art of film making, working with Jon Menick and telling their individual life stories. We hope to produce these mini videos to be uploaded to the YWCA website/blog/YouTube channel and/or the Story Point website and YouTube channel.

futurevisionThe students’ videos, titled “All About Me,” will be short 5 minute clips that they will learn to film, cut, edit, mix, and produce during a 10 week session. All films will be judged by Jon Menick himself as well as a small panel of judges so the students will have an (Academy) award ceremony when it’s all complete.

But… we need help! In order for this to be a successful experience, the students need cameras that they can take home with them to really capture their life story. We need mini DV video cameras (not to be confused with DVD, just DV) with cassettes. If you or anyone you know have a mini DV video camera or cassettes laying around in a closet somewhere that you’d like to donate, please let us know!

Feel free to pass along our needs to friends and thank you for supporting our youth in this community on this fun and exciting experience!
