What do you do with your family? Do you have fun, learn, and grow? The YWCA FutureVision High School staff have worked hard to provide fun, learning, and opportunities for growth to the students we work with. In the process, we have created our own “family”. We have our good days and our bad days, just like any other family. At the end of the day, though, we know that we are there to support, encourage, and have fun together.
One high school student, Destiny, created a work of art to show what the FutureVision Family is all about. She drew a flower that included qualities we incorporate to our program on each flower petal. In the center of the flower, she wrote everyone’s names (including the counselors!).
Meanwhile, in the FutureVision Middle School program, one student showed how important FutureVision is to him. Laura, the middle school site coordinator, played a game of hangman with a student named Kemmy. The phrase Laura was trying to decipher was quite long and she wondered what it could possibly be. Turns out Kemmy wanted to convey how much he enjoyed the FutureVision after school program. His hangman phrase was, “FutureVision is the best place ever.” Kemmy confided that he had been in other after school programs in the past, but liked FutureVision the most.
This drawing and hangman game show that, though we all come from different backgrounds, we all have a common bond in the FutureVision Family.
