Summer Camps Start Soon

26 May

There are still spaces in the YWCA’s wonderful Summer Camps which start on June 14. Here’s more info:

YWCA Summer Camp for Grades K-6
YWCA Summer Camp for children in grades K-6 emphasizes cultural awareness and enrichment. Camp is held at the YWCA of Asheville, 185 S. French Broad Avenue. Cost is $140/week for YWCA members and $150/week for non-members. The hours are 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, June 15 until August 21. Lunch and an afternoon snack are provided. Campers will enjoy weekly field trips, gardening, sports, nature hikes, swimming lessons, music, art, service learning and more. You can sign up week by week or for the entire summer. Applications are available at the YWCA or at www.ywcaofasheville.org. A $15 per week deposit is required to reserve the child’s spot for the weeks attending, which will be subtracted from weekly payments through the summer. Call YWCA School-Age Program Director CiCi Weston at 254-7206 x 111 or email cici.weston@ywcaofasheville.org for more information.

YWCA SPIRIT & FutureVision Summer Camps
YWCA FutureVision Camp for rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders and FutureVision Summer Camp for rising 9th -12th graders both offer swimming, movies, hiking, arts & crafts, community service projects, team building and much more. The focus is on off-site, day-long field trips such as kayaking, horseback riding, Grandfather Mountain and Linville Caverns. The cost is $120/week. There may be additional fees of $5.00 a week or more, depending on the cost of certain activities, but we try to keep these to a minimum. Current FutureVision (after school) students can participate free of charge. Both camps run 8:00 am to 5:15 pm. FutureVision Middle School Camp runs Monday through Thursday, and FutureVision High School Camp runs Tuesday through Thursday. Campers can sign up for one or more weeks. There is a 24-camper capacity for each camp. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Campers must bring a bag lunch. All staff are CPR and Lifeguard certified. To find out more about the program, contact FutureVision Director Erinn Huntley, 828.254.7206 ext. 205 or email erinn.huntley@ywcaofasheville.org.
