Why I Work at the YWCA

3 Jun

This week we’d like to feature YWCA employee Rachel Blattner, who provides personal training to participants in the YWCA’s Diabetes Wellness Program.

“When I first stepped foot at the doors of the YWCA, I was clueless to the world of opportunities that was opening up for me.

As a young women in the community, I was interested in working with other woman with like-minded ideas, goals and ambitions. Not having my family in Asheville, the YWCA has given me sisters. Two women that stand out and have been role models for me are Health & Fitness Director Susan Macdonald and Preventive Health Director Alphie Rodriguez.

The YWCA has given me the chance to spread my wings and fly. I have developed in leadership, relationships and most of all, I’ve become a more well-rounded individual. I am truly blessed to love what I do, and privileged to work where I work.” – Rachel
