Join the Stand Against Racism

16 Mar

The YWCA of Asheville invites you to join us as we take a Stand Against Racism on Friday, April 29, 2011.

The YWCA’s Stand Against Racism is a partnership of over 70 YWCA Associations throughout the country with the goal of bringing people together from all walks of life to raise awareness that racism still exists and that it can no longer be ignored or tolerated. Our strength is in our numbers! There is no charge to participate. Simply go to and click on the orange “Become a Participating Site” button to register your business, organization or house of worship. You will be provided with materials such as buttons, posters and event resources.

YW staff and volunteers are available to help you come up with a meaningful activity for that day. You can also participate by attending an event on April 29 such as the Diversity Fair at the YMI Cultural Center (39 S. Market Street) from 10 am – 4 pm.

In addition, everyone is invited to a family-friendly Community Celebration on Friday the 29th at the YWCA, 185 S. French Broad Avenue, at 5 pm.

You can find lots of information at Thank you in advance for joining the Stand Against Racism.
