Here is a message from YWCA Executive Director Beth Maczka:
Starting Monday, we will be displaying holiday decorations in our lobby. In planning our decorations, we wanted to be inclusive of a variety of traditions. We shared this vision with Mimi Shackleford, a local artist who created our Advocate Banners. Mimi has made us a beautiful mobile with the theme, “Wishing you Joy and Light!” It celebrates twelve different traditions with an emphasis on how light is celebrated during this dark time of the year.
A long tradition in the YWCA community, the MotherLove Giving Tree will again be displayed, and stars will be available for those who want to help with the holiday wishes of a participant in this program.
We will also have evergreen swags and lots of lights. It should be beautiful!
Our new decorations are only one of the ways we strive throughout the year to make the YWCA a welcoming place for all people.
In closing, I’d like to share a blessing that I heard recently:
“For those who are hungry, may they have food and for those who have food, may they hunger for justice. For those who are thirsty, may they have drink and for those who have drink, may the thirst for peace.“
Wishing you and your family a very special Thanksgiving!
